Our honorable minister of minority affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had claimed that the percentage of minorities in government has nearly doubled in last four years from 5.3 to 9.9%, and he had also expressed his pleasure over highest number of Muslims clearing civil services examination in 2018. My Hindu nationalist friend would have been enraged by now but they must understand that their majoritarianism can’t deny minorities from achieving what truly
The central government launched two schemes Naya Savera and Nayi Udaan in FY 2014-15 which have been instrumental in empowering minorities and increasing their presence in government jobs. The first which is the more important one gives financial support to minorities preparing for various competitive examinations such as JEE Advanced, UPSC Civil Services, CAT, SSC CGL, Bank PO, RRB examinations et al while Nayi Udaan gives financial assistance to the students of minority community for clearing prelims of UPSC CSE, state CSEs, and SSC CGL.
My bigoted Hindutva friends must be thinking that minority means Muslims and Christians only but let me remind them that it also includes Sikhs, Jains and Parsis. For example, out of 200 students getting the scholarship of 1 lakh after clearing UPSC prelims, only 170 (146 Muslims and 24 Christians) candidates are Muslims and Christians while majority of the candidates are Sikhs, Jains etc. Similarly, under the Naya Savera schemes, various coaching institutions empaneled under the scheme get financial assistance as opposed to individuals getting the assistance. Some of the coaching centres empaneled under the scheme are institutions like Alhuda Educational Society, Syed Rasool Saheb Educational Society, Jamia Millia Islamia , Madinu Ssaquafathli Islamiyya, Al-Ameen Mission etc which would again make Hindu nationalists make noises as these names are Islamic names.
Undeterred from the hate mongering by the vile Hindu nationalists, I’m really pleased to see the persecuted minorities of India since eternity who tried to rescue Hindus from the state of jahiliat getting their due share and recognition. Quoting the great nationalist leader Bal Gngadhar Tilak, “Whatever we do as a majority community for minorities, it will never be sufficient.” May PM Modi continue empowering the minorities in his next term too!
