In a unique exercise to create awareness about Armed Forces Flag Day, Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman with the three services chiefs gave five minutes special appearance in the most popular TV series.

Since 1949, Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on December 7 to honor the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought on the borders to safeguard the country. In 1993, The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund was set up to extend support to disabled ex-servicemen, war widows, children of martyrs and other such beneficiaries who need our care and support.

This year the Ministry of Defense has organized a weeklong digital campaign from 1st to 7th December 2017 celebrated as the Armed Forces Week. It was very enthusiastically participated by celebrities and common people as well.
