Who Is Champat Rai, Ram Janmabhoomi Trust Secretary?

Would just any Tom, Dick, and Harry be made the supreme leader of the VHP? Or the General Secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust?

Today, know who Champat Rai ji is...

Shri Champat Rai, Secretary of the Janmabhoomi Trust. During the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, a young Professor Champat Rai was teaching chemistry to students at RSM College in Dhampur, Bijnor, when the police arrived there to arrest him because he was associated with the Sangh. Immensely popular among his students, Champat Rai knew what could happen if he were arrested there. The police too anticipated how fierce the students' resistance might be.
Professor Champat Rai told the police officers, "You go, I will finish the children's class and come to the police station." The policemen knew the weight of this man's words, so they returned. After finishing the class and telling the children to go home safely, Professor Champat Rai reached home, touched the feet of his parents to seek their blessing, and arrived at the police station for a long imprisonment.
When he emerged after spending 18 harrowing months in various prisons of Uttar Pradesh, the Sangh's Sarsanghchalak Shri Rajju Bhaiya recognized the inner strength of this resolute youth and placed the responsibility of preparing Ayodhya for the battle of the Ram temple upon his shoulders.

Shri Champat Rai with Shri Ashok Singhal ji

Champat Rai kicked away his government job and plunged into the work of Ram. He went from village to village in Awadh, knocking on every door. He raised a youthful cadre at the local level that was ready to fight every situation. Every lane and by-lane of Ayodhya came to recognize Champat Rai, and he too came to know every lane and by-lane. He acquired such mastery over the history, present, and geography of Awadh that his companions began to call him by the moniker "The Encyclopedia of Ayodhya."
Even before the demolition of the Babri structure, Champat Rai ji began gathering "documentary evidence" for the Ram temple. He read and preserved millions of pages of documents, studied and tended to every single text; his house was filled with these papers, and every piece of information became firmly committed to his memory. When K. Parasaran and other fellow lawyers stepped into the field to fight the legal battle for the Janmabhoomi, it was this very man who provided them with irrefutable evidence.
On December 6, 1992, veteran leaders on the stage were lecturing kar sevaks on discipline. All kinds of directives were being given. Oaths were being administered not to harm the structure, while Champat Rai ji was some distance away from the stage with local youths. A journalist asked Champat Rai, "What will happen now?" He laughed and replied, "This is Ram's vanar sena, they haven't come here to do PT at the sound of a whistle... Whatever they have come to do, they will do and leave."
Saying this, he picked up a shovel in his hand and advanced towards the structure, then only the cry of Jai Shri Ram echoed and... history was written. Respected Champat Rai has not been made the secretary of the Ram temple trust just like that. He has dedicated his entire life at the holy feet of Ramlalla. People affectionately call him "Ramlalla's Patwari." This man is a warrior of Sanatana. He is not some coward talking nonsense with a gaping mouth.
In the lawsuits related to the demolition of the structure, after Kalyan Singh ji, Champat Rai alone has always openly taken the responsibility of that event upon himself before both the court and the general public. Champat Rai ji has stated, "As soon as we see the shikhara of the Ram temple, we will get down to inspiring the younger generation to take up the responsibility of Mathura."
Champat Rai ji is an ascetic and a scholar who pays attention to the smallest details of dharma. Once, when he was staying at someone's place in Kashi for some work, he noticed at night that the direction of the bed was such that his feet would point towards the south while sleeping. This was unacceptable to him even for a single night; right in the middle of the night, he had the direction of the bed corrected, and only then did he sleep. A man who traverses every village in India wearing a dhoti and kurta, and who adheres tenaciously to the minutest details of the Hindu way of life in his personal life—one can imagine just how thoughtful and combative he will be regarding the Shri Ram temple.

Shri Ram Eating the Tasted Ber of the Bhilni Shabari Is Proved from the Valmiki Ramayana

Nowadays, some hyper-scholars are propagating the delusion in society that the tale of Shabari’s "tasted ber (jujube fruits)" is not in the Ramayana, and that Shabari was not a low-caste devotee but an upper-varna (class/caste) woman. This is not only contrary to the supreme import of the shastra (sacred text), but also extremely harmful to social samarasya (harmony) and is a manifestation of ego and malice.
