'Shri Surabhi Yaga Paddhati:' - Book Introduction
In the Vedas and other shastras (sacred scriptures), the glory of Gomata (the sacred cow) is described most extensively. Gomata is the refuge of all devas (deities), rishis (sages), and pitris (ancestors). Within her divine form reside thirty-three koti devas. The cow is declared to embody all tirthas (sacred pilgrimage places) and all devas; through the worship of Gomata, all of them are worshipped and satisfied.
Through go-seva (service to cows) or go-darshan (beholding the cow), one attains the merit of pilgrimage to all tirthas and the beholding of all deities. By the mere presence of even a single cow in one's home, happiness and peace are established. Through caring for cows and godana (gifting a cow), a person is liberated from all sins and enjoys heavenly bliss. It is solely through performing daily parikrama (circumambulation) of cows that Brihaspati became universally revered, Vishnu universally worshipful, and Indra endowed with sovereign majesty.
In this world, there is no wealth equal to godhana (cow wealth); cows bestow every kind of happiness upon all living beings like a mother. In all the three worlds, there is none superior to them. Bestowing unmotivated grace, the Mother, embodying the four-footed form of dharma (cosmic order and duty), is ever present everywhere. To worship such a glorious, miraculous, and universally accessible deity is the foremost sacred duty of every human being. For this purpose, for the systematic scriptural worship of the supreme power, Gomata, this comprehensive manual 'Shri Surabhi Yaga Paddhati:' is of immense utility. The authenticity of this treatise will indeed be proven by the lotus hands of enlightened devotees of the cow. Jai Gomata, Jai Gopal...

How is Om correctly pronounced?
The *Ashtadhyayi* (Panini's foundational Sanskrit grammar) (1.2.34) states that "except for *japa* (muttered recitation), *nyunkha* (a specialized prolonged chanting of the syllable 'O'), and *sama* (melodic Vedic chanting), *ekashruti* (monotone recitation) may be employed in *yajna-karma* (sacrificial ritual performance)." When a long "Om" (or short "u" or "o") has to be appended to any *veda-mantra* (Vedic hymn), that "Om" is called "*nyunkha*". *Ekashruti* means reciting by treating all accents as a single tone.
